Sheep, Me again. Ronnie Earl has played with the ABB three times, two in the very early stages of Jack's tenure and one during Warren and Allen's last Beacon run- so all of these are from 1997). On March 11, he played on One Way Out. On June 24 in Camden, he came out for Southbound. On June 25 in Pittsburgh, he guested on Whipping Post (which is remarkable, because I can't think of any other guests playing on Whipping Post, ever). The latter two are probably of more interest to you, since they actually feature Ronnie and Jack together. Perhaps I'm telling you something you already know, but Ronnie was actually one of the select few considered for the guitar spot vacated by Warren (which of course went to Jack). The band (well, mostly Dickey, I guess) settled on Jack quickly, but gave Ronnie a shot because they clearly admire the guy, hence the gigs as an opener. Ronnie was ultimately turned down because he didn't play enough slide. For my part, I saw him as an opener on June 21, 1997 and really liked him a lot. Peace. --Marley
