Good morning all. First off I'd like to say, "Welcome to Hittin'theweb Bobby Whitlock!" By far the overwhelming majority of the folks here are some of the coolest people you will ever meet and have the utmost respect for you, Eric, Duane and certainly the Layla album. I can only think of one request. Please share some of your memories of Eric, Duane and the making of Layla with us. It would be greatly appreciated!
Also to Mitch, please take it from the Charlesinator. "If you are going to fly, do it first class." If the 335 is the guitar you really want, then get it! Don't let a few dollars hold you back. You will regret it. The only analogy I can give is like you are going to a brothel in the seventies and for a few extra bucks you get to sleep with Raquel Welch and here you are haggling.
Oh yeah, Southpaw. The guitarist you are refering to is Doyle Bramhall II. He is sort of the current darling of all the hip people. Most notable band he was in was the ARC Angels.
Everybody knows I love Eric Clapton but I do wish he would hook up with the ABB, DB & GS, DTB, Mule, or Warren. Sure we could use the publicity but I think the trade off of having Eric moved out of his comfort zone and having to play the guitar for real again would be more than worth it. Just my .02.
Oh yeah, one more thing. Byard, I love Let It Rain too. Did you know the guitar in the interlude part is none other than Stephen Stills? Also great to hear from your brother. Tell him to fly down from Mount Olympus more often. The mortals here need guidance. LMAO. Peace.
