Hi Guys: Just one more thought from me since I guess I am the one that started this Clapton vs Duane debate. Although I really didn't mean to start anything. I ,too, lost interest in Clapton's work for many ,many years, and I go back to 1965 as one of his biggest fans. I bought almost every recording that he had ever made until 1985 and loved most of it, but then he did seem to lose what I had loved about him. The only albums I bought between 1985 and 2004 were Journeyman and From the Cradle and I was disappointed by both. I saw him in concert several times between 1975 and 1985 but I lost interest in his live performances as well. BUT THEN....I heard If I Had Possession Over Judgement Day on the Radio and I thought it sounded pretty good so...I went out and bought his new album Me and Mr. Johnson and was VERY pleased at what I heard...In my humble opinion it is one of the finest works of his very long and distinguished career. I had no idea that I would see him play this year and when I found out that I had a chance to see him I honestly didn't know if I wanted to see him or not, but I did go and I am extrememly HAPPY that I did. So...In fact I do agree with alot of what has been said here about Mr. Clapton but like our good friends The ABB who themselves went through some pretty dismal years and put out some pretty bad recordings..... maybe HE too has made a comeback. Don't take my word for it. Go out and buy his new album and listen with an open mind or catch him in concert and make up your own minds. I also believe that Duane Allman too should have received credit for writing the song Layla, but life ain't always fair. Not in the recording industry.
