Truly an Epic evening in this guys life.
First the show: Just Warren and a guitar at Town Hall. (great little theater in Times Square) All acoustic.
Opened up with Fallen Down, Stella Blue encore, epic cover of U2's One, I'll be the one, Patchwork Quilt, The Real Thing, and Wasted Time (an Eagles tune) sandwiched in between. 2 1/2 hours long and very very mellow. Real pretty music.
The fellow I was with knows Warren's wife (she's the best !!) and he was able got me and my girlfriend backstage passes. (actually a room underneath the stage)
About 10 minutes after the show in comes Warren. I told him what a big fan I was and he could not have been more gracious.
You could just tell he was a real thoughtful, nice dude. I was asking him about the guitar he played during Stella Blue and he explained it was a custom job by some guitar maker who recently died. We were talking about a tune he played for only the second time last night and how he almost forgot the words. Basically chatting about music for a solid 15. He signed a copy of his new acoustic CD, and his wife was telling me they were leaving for Bonaroo Friday morning because he's gonna Jam with Dave Mathews that evening. The guy is simply put.... THE MAN !!!!
