The Lobster were heavily overfished for years and we are now paying the price for it. The families of Lobsterman are finding themselves with nothing because of it. As is the norm here large corporations saw the profit that could be made from Northern Lobster and decided to bring people from all over the country to lobster on the North East Coast. they of course did not care about the future catch here and took almost everything they could. What is left of the family companies are doing their best to make a living but having major problems because there are few to catch. My Brother, Jim, was a clammer out of Islip in the 70's and went out of business because of all the problems he was faced with at that time. It is the same for all fish here. As you work close to shore you can see the Warehouse boats just past the legal limit with their massive operations beating the daylight out of the fisherman who tries to feed his family off of the profit from his catch. A GB fishing trip sounds cool, maybe we can start a Forum Topic for those interested.
