i love the Band.. and even some of Robbie's solo stuff like Storyville...but you guys are right...
he was very impressed with himself...
some of the quotes in there made my blood boil a bit... never thought, myself that Robbie was better than Roy Buchannan... let alone better than Bloomfield...and Peter Green, EC, etc....
but to say he was the best white blues player in the early to mid 60's..

guess my untrained ears skipped school that day...
the one thing they had right , IMO, they were POWERFUL in concert...
what a sound... but from my ears.. it was Garth, Richard, Levon and Danko driving that beat and rhythym...
their albums never did justice to the sound they produced in concert..
anyway... the end came too soon...
but Levon must not have agreed..
was lucky enough to hear them one more time on that pre-Last Waltz tour at the old "Convention Hall" in Asbury Park the summer of '76... Aztec Two-Step opened for them...
