I saw an angel on the sidewalk today
While I walked on my solitary way
A cool Montana spring afternoon the sky a little gray
Her hair was pulled back from her face
Even though she was at least the age of seventy
Her eyes had a sparkle and she had a joyous grace
She stopped me to show a picture she just bought
At the old post office they had it for sale
A Lewis and Clark framed memorial picture
Honoring the pioneers of the great northwest
I guess it didn’t take her long to decide
On her wall at home it would look best
I saw an angel on my walk today
Had to share her days bit of joy
Made me smile about the little things
And I swear for a minute I even saw her wings
