Hey! How long have those Raleigh and Charlotte dates been there on the Tour page?
I get nervous every time I go off travelling - that I'll miss some POG with a presale announcement....at any rate looks like another 3 day ABB swing for Emily and Dad this year thru Virginia and North Carolina - one of the best features of home schooling is that flexibility to school around important stuff like the Allman Brothers (lol!)
Hey again! Any of you listen to the 5 disc compilation put together by "Fast43"?
He named it "Instrumental Illness", and it's ABB insturmentals ranging from the 7.26.70 Mountain Jam up to the recent 3.23.04 Afro Blue.
This compliation is a great retrospective of all the different "eras" in particular the different twin guitar leads (and of course a little of the 5 man band too....) Listening my way thru the discs, I kept saying, "Now this has got to be as good as it gets" or something like "I never really appreciated how great Derek and Dickey fit together."
Eventually got me wondering just what is it about the Allman Brothers that has kept me captivated for some 30 odd years?
It can't be just the musicians, enough change in that area means it's not the constant....it's not just the song writing (although that's got to be a lot of it), since some of the most timeless pieces were originally written by other folks....so what is it?
I don't know....don't really care either, once I think about it for awhile.
I just like the Allman Brothers...always have...
