Oh yeah, and before I forget, one last major honorable mention. On this past Thursday evening-April 22, I saw one of the greatest shows of the year-sadly with only approximately 15 other souls in attendance. The artist was extended family member and Sea Level veteran RANDALL BRAMBLETT. Gosh, I don't know what's with this world-and particularly NYC-but man there is some GREAT live music out there and people are just so intent I guess to sit on their couches and watch...lame "not even really funny" sitcoms! As I said to Randall after the show regarding our small numbers- "Hey, we may not be quantity-but we are certainly quality"! And 16 of us sounded like 600! Just to imagine that 2/5s of SEALEAVEL were onstage- *Randall and guitarist extrordanaire Davis Causey- was enough to impress me. Well, Randall and band went on just like the Southern diplomats they are-confident, smooth and effective. They performed many of their new tunes from their latest CD and many from previous outings. All of them were executed as though they were playing to 6000 folk. Randall treated us all to an old gem-one of my personal favorites from SEALEVEL- "Living in a Dream". And it took me back to a very special place. Two final words of MAJOR praise here; One is that besides his amazing gift of songwriting-Randall Bramblett has got one of the most amazing voices in rock! Period. Second: Davis Causey is one of the most humble and under-rated guitarist in our genre. On slide guitar-this cat is himself! He creates wonderful effects and backwashes like whales crying and such-and I never hear him copping a Duane lick ever! That is original in my book-and he should be acknowledged for all his years of being behind the scenes- definately part of OUR extended family.
