The way I look at it with EC is, if he wanted to do a tribute to Robert Johnson, why didn't he do it acoustically? Anybody can do those songs plugged in and pull them off. RJ played in a mysterious way, a way that the greatest blues guitarists can't figure out. It's purely the mystique that EC is so consumed with. I don't think anyone could do RJ justice by doing a tribute to the man. If I want to hear the real deal, I listen to RJ.
By the way, Eric was once quoted saying Robert Johnson was the greatest guitar player ever.
Several years later he was quoted saying the same thing about Buddy Guy. Anybody remember that or am I just talking out of my ass?
I liked From The Cradle but this one pretty much puts me to sleep too.
Keep up the good threads peachies.
