I always try to keep in mind the context of the George/Pattie/EC/Layla thing when the names are mentioned together. That said, I must sadly agree with the consensus. Some of you visited a local new restaurant/bar Godfrey's at the Jam. Old hippies have taken over and enlighened the patrons musically. Monday night ABB greatest hits was on when I came in, followed by One Way Out disk 2, Scott Boyer and the Decoys, and Waiting for Columbus. Last night they played Tinsley Ellis then the new EC. I kept waiting for the good parts, never happened. All I can figure is that he is trying to play more like the old Delta players, unsophisticated. Didn't work for me. I'll go to the originals for that. (BTW, heard Blind Willie's Statesboro last night for the first time.) I'll still pay the 100 because I like EC's work over the years that much. I'm not going to buy the new CD, though.
