July 7, 8, 9 to be exact....byard, the original dates were for May...Gary broke his ring finger and the shows were postponed until July. I was there too, met Leon Wilkeson and Allen Collins the first night. My cousin worked at Studio One and knew the Skynyrd Boys. I was still reeling from Duane and Berry's passings. I remember telling Leon and Allen to be careful out there, we had lost 2 special ones. Kinda still chokes me up to think about it, but Leon sort of choked up and all he could do was nod and smile....I was just a snotty teen then, but I'll never forget that moment. I'm glad I was able to see the original Skynyrd and MTB, never got to see the original ABB with Duane, my band. I love to hear Hophead, Patrick and Goliath's stories...we need more of 'em fellas! Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Tucker Boys helped ease the pain for me back then. However, tragedy struck again in '77 and '80. Sad. Bird, I think we need another mental picture from your morning commute.
