Ok gang,
I am here to say (again) that this whole Dickey vs. ABB is really freakin’ stupid! Why are we wasting our energy talking about something that has been a done deal for the last three years? Nothing said here is going to change anything and it certainly isn’t anything new. Besides, judging from what I saw and heard at the Beacon last week, why would you want it to change? This band is kicking ass! Never before have I been to any shows (for any band) where the crowd was just as loud as the band. The Beacon sang with Gregg REAL loud on lots of tunes and I have never seen a better guitar tandem live in person better than Warren and Derek. Nobody at the Beacon seemed to care about this issue.
I respect Red Dog and sacrifices he has made for the ABB. Never would I put a man down (especially someone like Red Dog) for his opinion or result to calice one line slams to get a point across. That being said, this topic seems to come up every couple of weeks. I am not being accusatory when I say this, but you have to wonder if there is some kind of hidden agenda here. What is this accomplishing but dividing the fan base? Be a fan of the past and the present for both bands and call it a day!
As far as Warren goes, why question the man? If he is happy touring with three bands, God bless him. My hope is that he stays a permanent member of the ABB. Face it people, a large part of this band’s resurgence (and remember, this is the second time he has done it) is due to Warren Haynes. We owe him dearly. The man is about his music and is very unselfish! The man is about the music. Warren – Please never leave again! We love you here in Chicago!
I am glad that we have an Allman Brothers Band to enjoy. Right now, I am REALLY enjoying what is going on and the current lineup of the band. Both parties are creating magic and they are each happier without one another. No doubt the split was unfortunate, but it has been for the best. I love where the ABB is headed! Leon, I’m with you!
