Buppalo, I know exactly what you mean about talent like you saw. It seems there are fewer and fewer places for these people to even play where the public can see them anymore, at least in NYC anyway. I went to see the band Psychedelic Breakfest at a place downtown for the first time, they pulled the plug on them before they were even done with the first set because "there weren't enough people there." It was a club that holds maybe 200 people max, and there were probably 60 people there. Now, I don't care if there were 5 people there, keep the place open. That's what was great about a place like Tobacco Road, which unfortunately closed, didn't matter if there no one there, no problem, keep playing. Along those same lines, I think Garcia had it right: "I always thought the Grateful Dead should be sponsored by the government or something. It should be a public service, you know, and they should set us up to play at places that need to get high. That's the kind of thing we should be doing; we shouldn't be business-it shouldn't be any of that stuff-it should be a thing like that."
