I commented but didn't rate. It would be easier to rate my favorite pairs rather than individuals. Duane Warren Derreck Dickey Jack Jimmy Dan Pairs Duane / Dickey Dickey / Chuck (Can I do that?) Warren / Derreck ___ 3rd & 4th is a tie Dickey / Warren Jimmy / Derrek Dickey / Derreck (there were moments) Dickey / Dan Dickey / Jack ** I have not heard enough Jack but what I have heard lets me know he is damn good. I just need to listen to some more. Break it up into Slide VS Straight lead and it is a whole new Ball game but it is easier. Slide --- Straight Duane --- Dickey (70 - 73) Warren --- Duane Derrek --- Warren Jack --- Jimmy Dickey --- Derrek -----------------Dan -----------------Jack ** Lets Rate Bass Players. My picks will be accepted untill I get to Oteil. I love him. He is an incredible player. He was not an ABB fan like all the others were so his playing does not sound as influenced by earlier versions of the band. Also Berry, Lamar, Rook, & Allen all had this Loud, Powerful, distinct sound where Oteil is a little smoother sounding. I love him but he is not my 1st or 2nd. Also like Warren it is not just Oteils Playing that makes him fit. His personality seems do be a PERFECT fit. And we all know how important that is. Here goes (Keep the flames civil please) Berry Lamar Allen Rook Oteil I love him he is great but the others have a more common sound for the band. (my opinion only) Again if I was rating combos, the Rook version of the band would drop to the bottom. But his playing style was very similar to Berry & Lamars. Hit me!
