Hi Folks,
I didn’t get to attend a show last year 🙁 But I did buy the DVD which prompted my wife to get me a DVD player for my Birthday. Been meaning to post my thoughts on the DVD ever since so here goes:
They didn’t play Ramblin Man. What’s up with that? 🙂
Jaimoe wears all the same shirts as me (Same Size too I’m guessing). I think he is Really Cool! When he does a roll & looks right at the Camera He just looks cool.
Camera work, angles close ups, sound, etc. are incredible
Even the menus are awesome! When I first stuck the disc in and got the intro and then a menu, I almost wet myself and I had not even watched anything yet.
I think it’s cool on the credits how they dedicate Rocking Horse to LEE FROM MEECHIGAN! 🙂
I think Black Hearted Woman really gets things Kicking
When D.T. takes his solo on Statesboro Blues there is a point where Gregg & Warren look at him and then at each other with BIG Sh!T Eating Grins. PRICELESS!
I notice there was no Taz on Marcs set up. Would that have violated some Looney Tunes Law?
It was good to see the Grammy on Oteil’s Amp or was that a statue of King Tut?
I get the impression Warren likes his job(s).
Derrek just continues to get more and more aggressive. When he did that Johnny B Goode/Chuck Berry Dance across the stage I was impressed. 🙂
WH & DT are both great guitar players. What are the Glass things on their fingers? 🙂
I think some of the Band Members spent their haircut allowance on records.
There should be a Warren Haynes Halloween Mask. Actually there should be about 12 WH masks. He makes some cool faces. I’d sure like to see his face during the solo on the alternate night Whipping Post.
You would think with 3 sets of drums & drummers they could take turns being magnificent, but NO they have to all be great at the same time.
If this thing sells enough maybe Gregg could get a new keyboard. His looks like it could be 3 or 4 years old. 🙂
The Picture of Derrek with the light shinning behind him on the Back of the box is incredible! He looks important to the future of music.
Crowd seemed subdued at times. Do you think they were there for Ellen DeGeneres or possibly Jamie Kennedy?
Highlights for me were:
Black Hearted Woman
Statesboro Blues
Change is Gonna Come
Woman Across The River
Old before My Time
Mark Banging the Gong on Whipping Post intro
Whipping Post (though I still think I will like the 3/25 version on One Way Out Better)
One Way Out
Even though I really like the 3/25 Whipping Post better The 3/26 used on the DVD REALLY ROCKS!
I love the disc 2 back stage stuff. Lot’s of interesting stuff. You really get a grip on the fact that this isn’t “just a gig” for any of them. They all seem to be very happy to be a part of the band.
As they discuss the set lists back stage at one point WH talks about doing Statesboro Blues both nights with DT & WH alternating on the Slide. DT says something like “Definitely, I’d like a shot at it” They care a lot about what they are doing and a little friendly competition (if that is the right word) seems to be a good thing.
Watching Warren Work on the set list was interesting to me
The guy complaining about the drum solos is a hoot!
Not complaining or cheering, just noticing, not one DB song on the whole thing. I am sure they CAN play his stuff & release it as the band has rights too it. I also know that if they put his songs on commercial release he gets more royalties. My guess is they are proving they CAN be successful without his songs even though they still do and hopefully will continue to play his songs.
