Man oh man!! I suddenly have this mysterious craving for...a jello shot!
🙂
EasyMichael and Sheep, the afternoon of that '01 Virginia Beach show was one to remember for me. Chilled out for most of the day with the sand and surf--my first time on the beach in over 10 years, and I haven't been back since, regrettably.
Then cruised on over to Johnny's Fish Camp, where I met, for the first time, Johnny (obviously), Melissa, Jeanne, Big Mike, Bird72, BlueFox Carol, Marley, PeachNutt, 007...the list goes on.
Right before the Allmans set, a bunch of us were standing around talking, and this woman walks up, and like Michael said, I just somehow knew that it was Lana. Not exactly sure how I knew, but I was right.
What a great show, too! A pretty intense two hours, with no instrumentals. I got to spend a little time on Gregg's side of the stage with Lana, and it was fun looking directly across during "Rockin' Horse" and seeing Phil Lesh, big smile on his face, totally checking out Oteil and loving what he heard.
Being on stage was great, but fighting the urge to twirl, air drum and whoop and holler was ultimately too much for me to bear, especially when I was looking out into the crowd and seeing Tony and Carol living it up in our great seats, front and center.
Good times.
