KC, thanks for the attack. You wrote a nice book. Remember if it was not for my disability check the band would have broke up. That is Duane's words not mine. You are so far off the mark that you need to get out of your fantasy world. You seem to be think you know something and you know nothing about what you are talking about. The only thing you can speak about is your what your ears hear. Stay out of things you know nothing about. The court thing with the Band and Dickey for one. You have that all wrong and that is a fact, I was at the trial and know who lied and who did not. my man. I have no ax to grind, (if one of the originals called and needed my help, I would be the first one at their door. I carry no grudge), as you seem to think. Just because I gave you facts and not bull. We could have just had talks about this stuff, but you chose to attack and act like you have some inside info, plus you seem to know what Chuck should do and not do. Good man. Maybe you should be the manager. Sorry bro, but I do know what I am talking about. I do not go by interviews that are for show. Your post below here, that I have posted again for you, sounds like you have read or heard to many of those interviews. Maybe the one where Butch says that this band is better than the others right after Dickey got fired. Seems like you took the ball and ran. Remember my man. I heard the conversations that where behind closed doors, not you. Its best to post your comments and opinions and don't pick other peoples post apart. ... To the person that got offended because I said true Allman Brothers people would come back. You should not have taken that personal. This is life. ..... SUPPORT THE TROOPS. ....... Here is your post. You need to sit down with a cup of coffee and think about it. When you attack people be ready to get fired back at. Have a good life and smile. The whole world smiles with you. Red Dog, Your post didn’t offend me it surprised me. It sounds like you have an axe to grind with the Band or with Gregg. First thing I said was that you know them better than me. And that is a fact. I don’t know what is going on inside but I do have ears and can listen to how much the band has improved since DB’s departure. I am not trying to take away from what he contributed in the past but the tapes don't lie. Also, You make a good point maybe NONE of them were playing worth a damn in 2000. They are playing extremely well now. Regardless of whether it was just DB’s bad playing or all of them, they are playing better without him then they were at the time with him. The music is great and the truth does hurt. It hurts me to say they sound better without DB. But how far back do I have to go to find a tape of the ABB with DB that sounds better than todays line up? There isn’t one from 2000. And that’s when the axe fell. How well he played from 97 - 99 is not relevant. Gregg had troubles we all know it. But he wasn’t to proud to get better and stay with the band. When 2000 rolled around he wasn’t so focused on ticket sales that he was willing to sacrifice the quality of the music. Regardless of what inside info you have, the band’s statement said they wanted him to come back. They gave him some conditions and he NEVER EVEN TRIED to comply. Instead he dug his heels in the sand. If he had said publicly that he was better and on top of his game instead of denying everything and getting a lawyer who knows what would have happened? Hell he even posted a rant & rave right here on the GB and his only concern seemed to be that the band didn’t want him to drink beer with his buddies. He must have said that 4 times, barely brushing over the fact that the music sounded like crap. I would love to see the ABB be very successful financially BUT I would much rather have great music with low sales than bad music with High Sales. I think everyone here would agree that there is plenty of BAD music that sells very well. We don’t need anymore of that. DB screwed himself when he “went legal”. That I do know. As far as ticket sales & DB why would I ask a promoter. They know Brittney and Janet Jackson. They don’t have a clue when it comes to music. They can sell good looking Hot Bodies with little effort. To sell the ABB to the young crowd they would actually have to do some promoting. That would be like work. The ABB in my opinion has now and always has had more potential for marketing than they ever took advantage of with the exception of 73 – 75 when they were at the top. Fame is not what they are after but I believe they could have more if that was what they wanted. They have to Beg Gregg to play more than an hour? Seems doubtful they beg him to do anything. If he doesn’t want to play for more than an hour he doesn’t have too. You don’t seem to have the same amount of respect for Gregg that say Warren seems to have when he speaks of Gregg on the DVD. I know, you know Warren too and I’m sure I am missing something. Maybe Chuck & Lamar got screwed back then. I don’t doubt it. Rumors are that Jaimoe got screwed too but he is back. Chuck seems to be doing just fine as is. Would he give up his gig with the Stones to become a Member of the ABB? It is about the music not the $. In an interview about the 2001 guest appearances he indicated that he really enjoyed it and would like to do more. Sounds pretty simple to me. But then you know him I don’t. Here is one more thing I don’t know anything about…. Wasn’t this band your bread and butter for many many years? You are recognized quite well as a result of your work with this band. Your book sells because of your relationship with the band. I know you are a great story teller and have plenty to tell. But who would be listening if it were not for the band which still includes Gregg Allman, Butch Trucks and Jaimoe. Love Dickey, Love the Band. It doesn’t hurt to do both. Love one or the other if that is how you feel but don’t try to drum up sympathy for the way DB was treated. He made his own choices and I do know for a fact that he is “No Angel” either. Getting along with him and working with him was a task to say the least. There are other people equally close to the band that have shared their stories but with enough respect for the band to do it in private. I guess the point is that for every story you have about Gregg I suspect there is at least one to be told about Dickey. WHY not let the negative stuff die and the music live on? Any talk of renaming the band is BS in my opinion. Listen to how different they sounded with Chuck & Lamar. The sound was great but different. Nobody wanted to rename them then. Dickey’s country flare was not reason to change the name for Brothers & Sisters. Some of my favorite stuff is from 73. But they didn’t sound like the original line up - far from it. No line up will match the original but they seem to have evolved back to a sound that resembles the 70 – 71 version more than any other version has. I love the stuff from the 80’s but it is different. It is still Allman Brothers to me. ----------------------- "With the help of God and true friends I've come to realize, I still have two strong legs and even wings to fly" ... Good lines here. Now, try to use your brain. Its not working at this time.
