morning ya'll..cant stay but a moment.Grandbaby-dolly and I are off to big day at Wally-world..pick up a few little goodies for the garden party...Moved 3 cubic yards of seashells, needed to remind myself I had a back..Prayed for little Carlie the entire day and still....They have that pos that abducted her..caught him breaking drug parole...thankfully, he is being held w/o bond..but the good policemen/women look extremely grim..they are processing the creeps stationwagon, and the way I understand it...they know 100 percent they have their guy..Please pray for Carlie's safe return.. Who needs seeds? send snail-mail addys in pm..my pleasure...unless PG is hit with a hard-freeze..its is spring here in SW FLA...just gorgeous...soft , just warm enough days and cool breezy nights...All the seeds are pure Native FLA Wildflower seeds and easy-to-grow choices/ good for even the most casual gardener and freebie in Duane, Berry and Joe Dan's honor..to be harvested from our dedication garden, hopefully, only several weeks from now..I say our, Heather and I planted the garden in all our names...and afterall, nobody really owns the earth...planting Wildflower seeds, rather than some God-awful lawn.. is a good way to show respect , we are , afterall, just guests for the time we have here...Incredibly , the garden has not only survived, but thrived without my coddling...it is the reason I got into Natives...I cant guarantee my FLA Natives will grow with wild abandon and natuarlize like they do here, but you can bet they will do well as annuals most anywhere..if you can get them in after the last hard freeze, and while spring is still cool and damp, so the seedlings spring up in time to glory in hot summer... Hi Joseph! miss your words of wisdom......listen..Kev and I were blessed to see Merle Haggard LIVE a couple of weeks ago..despite his sometime too radical for this old hippy way of thinking....(I wanted to jump up and cheer for Marijuana...not that I condone ..I dont..but certainly there are worse things than an occasional toke) anyway, God Love Merle....his hard-drinking whiskey music is wonderful, and I esp love the line about "pitching whooo" (am I spelling this right?) it reminds me of the first time I heard Gregg sing his beautiful eloquent Southern drawl- soaked words.....no 15 year old young lady in NYC had any idea what "put up a sign and my house began to wail " meant, but damn he made it sound so good....well, I not exactly sure what pitching whoo means still...but if its old fashioned love ...I like it...God bless my old man....he is a love.....ok, so getting back to RD...we ran into two old , very good friends..2 of the few that I can honestly say were good to my Angel, showed her the respect she more than deserved..(like RD and Judi) so Annie, a beautiful Jersey Italian princess had obviously had a couple of cocktails..shes married to an Irish/Indian Cracker..Mat..the Candyman..one of the happiest, funniest , hardworkingest man you could ever know...Occasionally Mat picked up little Matty,(we spoiled our kids, for shame, never let them ride the bus, for fear of predators ) he would come armed with candy-bars..and pass out all kinds of candy..chocolate..always the good stuff...to all the kids as they emerged from the school..and always that great smile...total opposites, yet you never saw two people more in love..(ok, Waylon and Jessi...) and successful..I admire success tremendously...Annie is very fine and reserved...plays piano like an angel...I always loved her and she knows it.....So she grabs me..and tells me these words..."knowing me, I probably never told you how much I love and looked up to you over the years"...totaly blew my mind...I want to say the same to Joseph....Kevin would agree....I know....and of course to Judi..goes without saying...As far as the music, .anyone who knows me knows I love Dickey Betts better than any musican that ever lived..but I miss the good people and the fine NY shows...I was shocked to hear no Friends tour this year...I prefer my dose of Gregg at the Friends show..I love R&B's... the new ABB is a bit loud and citified for my ears..Im from the city..been there done that..Hell yes I miss Dickey in the band..so much so I havnt been to an ABB concert since the first Father's Day show, when Jimmy Herring walked out on stage and took Dickey's spot..poor guy..I flipped.. ran him right out of there.....he played the whole show with his back up against Gregg's B 3..looking back, it was none of my damn business...(and I apologize Jimmy, do you read this) I still cant believe they sold tix w/o telling folks no Dickey...but Ill be damned if Im going without seeing (hearing) Gregg much longer..if Dickey is my favorite..Gregg sure follows a picture finish...I dont care how the ABB sound at this point..Gregg has paid his dues..still clean and sober since, what? maybe Christmas of 98? that remarkable! to hell with anyone who thinks he's a hipocrate..he's doing what he has to to stay alive...Dickey is happy ..for me..simply no better guitar anywhere..no better writing..no better singing...and like Waylon, earthy and very approachable..Nobody treats his fans better than Dickey...his fans should be as good to him as he is to them...Anyway. ..you like what you like..its a simple fact of life..no point in arguing taste..later ya'll, sorry so long...love and prayers to all, esp Leah Marie...Ca
