I feel the same way you do hotlantatim ……mixed. For me, if Warren stays a permanent member of The Allman Brothers Band and keeps Gov't Mule going, I will have no problem with him playing with The Dead here and there. You can't really blame him for wanting to play with as many people as he can because that is what it is all about. Who else has gotten these types of opportunities? That being said, I will hate it if he leaves this band or if we get less ABB shows as a result of this Dead thing. Honestly, I think the Allmans are at a point where everything is really awesome and the band is moving forward, where as I don't see the Dead evolving at all (just my opinion). Not only was Hittin' The Note one of the best studio discs since Duane was around, but with the Beacon DVD, a new live disc and the Instant Live program, it would seem to me that this would be the wrong time for Warren to pick up another gig (and we haven't even touched on Mule being a full band again and moving forward). I really wish someone close to Warren and the band would shed some light on what he plans to do. One way or the other, I would like to know what is up.
