On the Delaney and Bonnie topic. I met them once during the Festival Express that toured Canada and it was one of the biggest thrills of my life. I was a young punk working at a gas station when a Ryder truck pulled in and proceeded to damage the canopy over the pumps. Some long haired types jumped out of the truck and proceed to apologize profusely. While two of them are exchanging insurance information with the Station Manager (my Dad) I start chatting with the third. He tells me that they're with Delaney and Bonnie and that they are headed up the road to a studio for rehearsal. Before I knew it they were inviting me to head up after my shift ends to watch. My Father (being the cool cat that he could be at times) tells me to go now if I want. Before too long I find myself meeting Delaney, Bonnie and the rest of the band and get to sit through their entire reheasal. Everyone was very nice to me and Bonnie especially went out of her way to ensure I was having a good time. I left that day with some great memories and a D&B sticker autographed by everyone that was there (Delany, Bonnie, Jim Gordon, Carl Radle, Jim Keltner to name a few) No need to tell you, of course, that I lost that sticker somewhere over the past few years. Wonder what it would have been worth today? Still have the memories though and they are priceless.
