Someone wrote that this was a typical ABB review. In fact, I'd say it is
just the opposite. Go look at all the reviews from last summer - while
some missed Dickey, they almost universally praised how great the band
sounded.
As for this guy's opinion about the show, the music & the musicians - he's
entitled to it. I do agree that the reviewed the band that wasn't there, not the one that was, but
the Dickey comparisons aren't going away any time soon (wait until the new
album comes out).
I do think the repeated comments about the crowd were a cheap shot and not
representative of who really was at the Beacon. I was pleasantly surprised
how many college age folks I saw, even with the $55-80 price tag. To call him a jerk, or A#%*ole will only
reinforce their opinion and will drop us down to his level.
As for Billboard, they did a wonderful tribute to the ABB for the 30th
Anniversary Tour. You might want to thank them for that if you write them.
