I never realized it before but I guess that I am more of a "lurker" than anything else. I do check in here every day - Without fail! - to see what is going on and what everyone has to say, but for some reason I don't post all that often. I noticed a few posts a while back about Sonny Landreth. I caught a great double bill about a month ago: John Hiatt and the Goners with The Robert Cray Band. As all Sonny Landreth fans know he often plays with John Hiatt. It was a great show and I got the chance to meet Sonny afterwards. I have been a fan for a long time and it was a real treat to finally get to say hello. He was very friendly. I mentioned to him that I had watched him on a video that very day. As I started to walk away he said "Wait a second! What video?" I told him it was Govt Mule "The Deepest End" and he broke out in a big smile and said "Man what a night that was! Just great! I love those guys!" I told this story to Warren when GM played in Tampa and it brought a big smile to his face, too. (Hope he is feeling better.) I have always thought that Derek and Sonny are proof of extraterrestrial life: Some of the stuff those two guys do are just out of this world! When DTB played in St Pete Derek was flying on Afro Blue. Sonny was doing some stuff with John Hiatt where the slide sounded like a violin and at other times like a harmonica. When I play it just sounds bad! Some talk a while back about Eve Cassidy. If you like her check out John Gorka. He has a great new CD "Old Future's Gone." His previous one "The Company You Keep" is excellent also. EAPFP
