Finally got through listening to Deads 71 Fillmore 4 disc release. A real gem. Almost every vintage Dead tune I love. But the thing is such a time capsule of history too. I dig the Bill Graham raps..... Father Bill, Brother Bill, Pissed off Bill, get em all... it is great. The music is too much, a Morning Dew for the ages. The closing We Bid You Good Night was an extended bit of Dead Soul..... Hearing Jerry do Sing Me Back Home (before I die) was almost too much..... Damn he pissed me off.......... what a sad ending....... alone in a rehab deal. He had the world too. This Fillmore set is Jerry and mates at the Peak and with the blues man Piggy, he was a show in itself. Thing got me thinking, how about an ABB cover (Warren on 1st vocals): Morning Dew ( a real natural for him) Morning Dew would also be a Derekfest for jazzy style solobut. Here is Birds orchestration: Morning Dew / jam / segue / intro / Dreams.... those two songs have a common something I can't quite define, similiar beat...
