Surprised that nobody caught what happened last night. Listen to the end of "Whippin Post" from the Fillmore East album and you'll hear me starting Mountain Jam on the tympani. Listen to the beginning of Mountain Jam on "Eat a Peach" and you'll hear the tympani start it off. For most of the shows before '71 we ended with "Whippin Post' straight into "Mountain Jam". Last night is the first time we've done that since Duane died. I'll tell you what, I had a ball. Wore my old butt out, but it was really fun.
