This is probably so obvious that it doesn't need repeating, but it has occurred to me how fluid this site has become. I mean, there are people joining the site who have never seen Dickey Betts play with the band. I haven't added up the number of shows since May 2000, but some people are turning on to the music for the first time and have no first hand knowledge of the man. People who saw the Brothers between 1996 and just the last few years didn't connect Warren Haynes with the band either. And still the music continued... I never got to see Duane or Berry play , so I totally enjoy the post's that bring that part of the history to life. When my son and I were eating fried chicken at the H&H a few weeks ago I looked around the room and saw a table of fans from up north and Reddog sitting talking with a friend. Momma Louise was in the kitchen and all was well in the land. I didn't go over and bother Reddog, nor did I act silly around Momma Lousie, I felt no need to do anything that I wouldn't do with 'family'. I think what I'm trying to say, without sounding goofy, is that I WAS home and everyone there was a friend, I didn't have to impose myself. It felt good sitting there. "Seiza'--the Japanese call it. 'Sitting here- now'. You can only do it if your mind is clear of distractions and you are comfortable with the sound of your own heartbeat. We live in a very hectic world with deadlines to make, promises to keep, and lives to live. We rarely ever sit 'still' and listen. I feel that what all of us do here is sit still and listen...we listen to each other...we wish each other a Happy Birthday...we are there as friends... and yet most of us have never even met. We should protect this thing we have. Our love of the music brought us here and as we wish the thirteenth incarnation of the Allman Brothers Band the very best, let us remember that it has brought us together also! Peach.
