Howdy. Just got Atlanta Pop and it sounds great. Just for the heck of it, while I was listening to it I put together a little list of all the Allmans live recordings. This is just the official stuff, not taper stuff or even the instant CD (by the way, I just ordered Charlotte cuz I gotta have Layla and I was disappointed it wasnt on the Beacon DVD).
Anyhow, by my calculations (which are quite possibly wrong), the boys have put out 11 live albums that include 48 different songs. And to prove that I have way too much time on my hands, I am gonna list them.
The albums/cds are in chronological order (not order of release): Fillmore East, Feb. 70; Ludlow Garage; Atlanta Pop Festival; American University; At Fillmore East (including the Eat a Peach stuff that ended up on the Fillmore Concerts and the new Fillmore East re-release); SUNY; Dollar Gas; IRSA acoustic; Evening with; 2nd Set; Peakin at the Beacon.
Now for the songs, and this list is by how many times a tune appears. Leading the way with seven appearances are Statesboro Blues and Liz Reed.
Six: Trouble No More.
Five: Mountain Jam; Whipping Post.
Four: You Dont Love Me; Dreams; Dont Keep Me Wonderin; Stormy Monday.
Three: Southbound; Hoochie Coochie Man; Every Hungry Woman.
Two: Leave My Blues at Home; Outskirts of Town; Aint Wastin Time No More; Dont Want You No More/Not my Cross to Bear; Midnight Rider; Jessica; Seven Turns; Melissa; Midnight Blues; Done Somebody Wrong; One Way Out; Blue Sky.
Finally, the one-hit wonders: Dimples; Hot Lanta; Drunken-hearted Boy; Revival; Wasted Words; Ramblin Man; Come and Go Blues; Cant Lose What You Never Had; Come On in My Kitchen; Goin Down the Road; End of the Line; Get On With My Life; Nobody Knows; Sailin Cross the Devils Sea; Soulshine; Back Where it All Begins; The Same Thing; No One to Run With; Please Call Home; Stand Back; Black-Hearted Woman; Leave My Blues at Home; High Falls.
Thanks for indulging me.
