Actually I came here to post that I recently have got some vintage releases on CD that I've been waiting on forever. Thought I'd pass it on.....
To my knowledge, these have never been on CD until recently:
Neil Young: On The Beach, one of his best.... 1974, moody and awesome.
New Riders Of The Purple Sage: NRPS, yes the first album..... Garcia on it! All songs great. They added 3 live cuts from that era and retrospective notes.
Oh and I like this one.....
Mountain: Nantucket Sleighride. Holy geez I like that one, hadn't heard it in 30 years till yesterday.... early Government Mule in a lot of ways.... even says play loud on the back........ Has Leslie West and Corky Laing recent retrospective notes AND one live cut added.
Also, just got Hot Tuna (first one) and it has THREE cuts that the vinyl didn't have room for! An acoustic Lamps Trimmed And Burning.... yikes....
And I have to order the FOUR CD Waylon Live special release.... 1974 was a single vinyl.... couple years ago a double CD was done with a bunch of additional cuts.... and like a year ago they came out with a FOUR cd release of like all the cuts from that run they multi tracked..... again, I MUST have that baby.....
I need to look into the first Mountain (Climbing) and see if that has been redone also, another must have. Also, just got the second Tuna, but it is no change in format (no extra cuts) but I'm wondering if I ordered the wrong version..... it came as a "Value" something or other release Still great to hear after all these years.
Yeah, I live in the past. Just replaced vinyl Doors with CD's too (original formats). To me 1969 to 1973 were the golden years. Sure it was MY golden years in high school, but the R&R scene was the best. There are some 74-75 releases that are still awesome.... but times were changin'. 69-73 for ABB and a bunch of others was the real deal..... I'll try to post this stuff here as I run across it, I just stumble across these things, they really aren't promoted. To me this stuff is exciting, like after having to live with "Best Of Mountain" and The Best of NRPS in lieu of the originals.... I hate "Best Of's" I really hate "The VERY Best Of's". And I believe I've even seen a The Very, Very Best Of....Now, the Airplane at least did a The Worst Of.... but they lied. Someone really should do a Worst Of with all the jetsam and flotsam and road kill from their careers..... guess the ABB tried with two consecutive Arista albums rather than a best of approach, hehe.
