Phil Keaggy!!!! After something like 30 years of considering myself a fan, I finally made it to my first Phil Keaggy show tonight. Emily and I only had to drive something like 85 miles to get there, but it was free, and worth every penny (lol!) Really, Phil was incredible - a may-zen! Just he and his acoustic guitar, often played thru his "Jam Band" for outrageous effects. Phil has got to be one of the best out there - even his tuning on the fly is better than most other folk's playing (and, BTW, he does seem to retune into new keys while playing - yikes, and he makes it sound good too.) I always thought Phil's vocals sounded a lot like George Harrison, without the Liverpool accent - and tonight I was treated to "Here Comes The Sun" - was just as emotional to me as hearing Layla at the Beacon... On the way home, Emily actually said she liked the Phil Keaggy show better than seeing the derek trucks Band - and that, folks, means a lot.... Go see him if you get the chance - don't wait 30 years like I did!
