According to the review in the Chicago Tribune, and I quote. " In its 34-year history, the Allman Brothers Band has had 20 different members, with Butch Trucks being the constant in the lineup. The group has had to reinvent itself repeatedly to adjust to the loss of key members such as Duane Allman and Dickey Betts, and even, for a time, lead vocalist and organist Gregg Allman." Did I miss something? Hasn't Jaimoe been a "constant in the lineup" since the beginning? And when did Gregg leave? Other than when he turned state's evidence on Scooter Herring, spawning the Dickey's infamous quote, "We can never work with Gregg again. Ever." Unless my memory is faulty (a distinct possibility) I can't remember an ABB without one of its namesakes, unless he was referring to the post-Hourglass days when Gregg was stuck out in LA and Duane sent a plane ticket to come and jam with the Pre-ABB. But they weren't the ABB yet. Somehow, knowing how little research and preparation most music journalists do (most are just assigned shows and CDs to review without having a clue what it is they're being asked to evaluate) I seriously doubt that this guy has turned over any new news. Most likely it's just another example of inaccurate, irresponsible journalism.
