So it is 8:00 MST and I look out my window and went, Holy Sh*T! Everything is white. Snow. I love spring in Montana. I think this will be one of those one month of summer years here. Wheeee. I got a half dozen or so Beacon shows recently, and finally have listened to a fair bit of it. I know it's old news to all that went and have been listening to shows.... but geez this band is tighter than nails now. I doubt I will play much 01/02 stuff after hearing the newest. A lot of things jump out. The typically muddy, echoey sound of Beacon recordings is pretty much gone. The band has just suberb mixing and sound now. It was always one of my gripes, organ buried, Gregg low in the mix.... And on top of that, the tapers are getting some fantastic recordings now, we are lucky for these people. And Derek and Warren are like one mind now. Layla 3/21 floors me. But everything is incredible now, the drums are amazing and Otiel is just kickin it. This really is the rebirth of the band in a lot of ways. No dis to Dickey, God bless him.
