Sorry if my post yesterday offended anyone, it didn't intend to. I got a few emails either saying right on, or f***off. I was just me spouting off my opinion.
That said, these Beacon shows are amazing. Derek is just amazing, IMO. He has so much creative ability. Every one of his big solos are different, night to night, which is also what I thought Duane brought to the band. All his Dreams solos are digging for new ideas and may have similarities right at the climax, but the build up's are all different. Same with AWTNM, Desdemona & others. Warren on the other hand, can rip apart his solos, but he just doesn't go as deep as Derek, to constantly seek new ideas. On the 3/15 show, Warren plays that signature Nobody Knows riff twice in the show, both during the Liz Reed & WP solos. Yeah, I know that's a bit knitpicking and critical, but that's why I admire Derek so much, because of his lack of repitition. You can also argue that Dickey played very similar jams in all of his big instrumentals like IMOER, Les Brer, High Falls, etc. I guess I'm just an overly critical fanatic!!!
Happy Birthday's to Eddie P & Cliff.
Also, Cowboy Neil, I agree Phil & Friends is a much better band than this latest version of The Dead. Much better!
