CowboyNeil, prayers for your Dad and family. Said I wouldn't, but I'm going to anyway: Can we step back for a moment and see the big picture? Things I do not know: 1) What is the "right" role of government in the security of our people. 2)What is the "right" or "best" role of the government for society in general. What I do know: 1)Although I may have strong views on these issues, I can't be sure. 2)If I close my mind to those who hold different opinions, I never grow or evolve in my thinking. 3)We will have an election next year. 4)I have never been prouder to be an American than when listening to AIQ and EJ tell about participating in the protest in NYC. Although I had a different view, I was very proud that, in my country, they were free to voice their displeasure at government policy, even call the President ugly names if they chose, without fear of repercussions. This is very good. 5)I know I spent a weekend in NYC surrounded by people who were totally in love with each other. No doubt some were conservative, some liberal, some Christian, some Jewish, some atheist. Didn't matter. We all gave each other the right to think as they chose and didn't let personal opinion interfere with friends. This is very, very good. It's only dangerous, IMHO, when other opinions aren't tolerated. EAPFP
