Mornin' y'all
Been gone a few weeks with work and computer meltdowns and when I came back, other than missing some Beacon reviews, I was kinda glad I'd been gone. Anyway, I've been amazed at the setlists. So glad to see Wasted Words back in the mix.
A thought or two about the new DVD/CD project. Any new ABB is reason for celebration. I'm real curious to see what turn the live CD will take. If it winds up like 1st set/2nd set as largely representations of the new CD and new versions of songs that have been played for years, I fear the band will lose some of th momentum they are gaining in the critical and popular markets with Hittin' The Note. I'm hoping this new CD is mostly unreleased stuff or things that have been reinvented: say, Wasted Words, 44, Schoolgirl, whos been talkin', Layla, Into the Mystic, With just enough of the Stuff that's core to the setlist to hold it together. A mostly new material live CD would get great points for guts and would draw more directly on the tradition of LAFE than most live CDs others have released since. If you remember LAFE only had 2 previously released songs, and they were radically expanded.
course that's just my 2 cents and I'll take it any way I can get it.
