Kathy's Song – P.Simon I hear the drizzle of the rain Like a memory it falls Soft and warm continuing Tapping on my roof and walls And from the shelter of my mind Through the window of my eyes I gaze beyond the rain drenched streets To England where my heart lies My mind’s distracted and diffused My thoughts are many miles away They lie with you when you’re asleep And kiss you when you start your day And a song I was writing is left undone I don’t know why I spend my time Writing songs I can’t believe With words that tear and strain to rhyme And so you see I have come to doubt All that I once held as true I stand alone without beliefs The only truth I know is you And as I watch the drops of rain Weave their weary paths and die I know that I am like the rain There but for the grace of you go I How can I put in words how wonderful it is to be an ABB fan and part of an extraordinary group of people who take a break from our dog eat dog world’s to remember what friendship, laughter, love and good times are? How can I tell someone how knows nothing of this sub-culture …. how it feels to hear Libby sing so soulfully while Lam, & Michael and Jimmy were playing ? How Karen & Lynn's smiling faces when they enter a room and give you a hug…just warm your heart… How the “sweeties” spend so much time & energy so selflessly so make sure we all have a gathering place stocked with social nourishment for all to consume… How 3 guys come from the west coast to NYC and throw a bash for folks when many of them are only had to hop a train, bus, subway or taxi… How just seeing Gerald’s sly grin makes you feel all at ease… How Great Scott graciously made sure all attitudes were tuned to the right note… How endless the energy, spirit of family & friendship, and sharing is in people like Terri, Jackie, Stacey, Sari, Linnie, Jody, Jeanne, Scotty, Brent, Dino, Lee, Joel (tuffjew) Johnny, Mitch, Lee, Pam, Randy, Stephanie, Libby, Carol (Bluefox), Leah, Chuck, Lana, Easy Michael, Phillybob, Bruce, Walt, Tim, EJ, AIQ, Sang, Corny, Eddie & Rita, Dave, Randall, Jim B., DelDavis and Jannette I thank the group from Alabama who left Rich & I all their food & drink….we did not know their names…tells you something about southern hospitality…. I am blessed…to have shared a room with Rich , Lammy, Buka and my friend Jimmy who I have not seen in 5 years… Jimmy came to his 1st Allmans show since we saw them together at Nassau Coliseum in march of 1976. Jimmy and I have not spent much time together as marriage, family, jobs and distances had tangled our sails over the years…spent time with him 5 yrs ago when he turned 40 and they had big jam at their house in NJ… But I have since moved from NH to FLA to KC…. We were inseparable in high school… it was so good to have him experience this past weekend with all of you wonderful folks. He recently went thru a divorce and we know what that can do … Jimmy was blown away by the band…. The friendship….and the spirit…and Derek! He told me that this whole community is extraordinary… and I said yup…it sure is… He said we are all so fortunate after all these years, to hold onto things that are so precious in life. He was not really speaking about the band..although he was amazed at the level they are playin at and how they have evolved. I am only sorry I did not get to spend more time with many folks I wanted to but there always the next adventure! Rich & Lam… thank-you.. Buka..see you at the hutt Mitch…you are kind & wonderful soul randy..good to see you again... TerriB…heal that foot and save me another dance! Sari... thanks for the chat!
