been a lurker for all too long. now i must jump into the "fray". my "credentials" for jumping into the "fray" (since this board is "all too chummy" and is "limited to 'HTW' insiders")(the board tends to jump on newcomers)- i have been a fan since the early Florida days (i am 50 years old)(i was at the Ludlow Garage in Cincinnati when the ABB played there)(i was at the "Mar y Sol" festival in Puerto Rico, how many on this board know that the ABB played in Puerto Rico???) i was at the fillmore east/west. i am a professional musician and i have played with many of the groups that the ABB have played with over the last 30 years. the current debate over the "old" ABB versus the "new" ABB is "senseless. life changes, bands change. we all wish that duane was still alive, that berry was still alive, that we could now be listening to the original ABB 30 plus years down the road. WHAT A BAND THAT WOULD BE!!!! but, alas, that was not to be. for various reasons certain band members became involved in drugs and alcohol. towards the "gregg supporters" - do you forget that gregg turned "state's evidence" during certain investigations? towards the "dickey supporters" - do you forget that dickey was drunk a lot of times?" as a native of asheville, NC i have played with warren over the years. warren is not duane and derek is not dickey. the old ABB lives on only with our recordings. the new ABB is NOT anything like the old ABB. warren has taken control of the new ABB. is this "good/bad?". it is neither- it is just different. oteil is not "berry" (long live berry). warren/derek can not even come close to the magic of "duane/dickey" (long live duane/dickey"). the ABB of the 70s (long live the 70s ABB) cannot even come close to the ABB of 2003. that being said- "thank God for the ABB 2003!!!!" i always thought/think that "family took/takes care of family". should dickey be playing with the ABB? hell yes!!!!! should gregg and butch "kiss and make up with dickey?" hell yes!!!! after all, it is the "brothers band". is "HTN" the cd that this board is gushing over? no way. it is another cd that marks the ABB. is it the "best thing since sliced bread?" no way. it is an "overhanded/overproduced" cd, typical of warren haynes. is it a "welcome cd?" hell yes!!! but only because it is the first in years and years and years. now this board can discuss my posting and the "closed" family of this board can get all excited and post their comments. the fact remains- "HTN" is a new cd from the ABB. YEA!!!!!!! it is an average cd "BOO!!!!!"
