The Brothers were on fire Saturday night!!!!! The first set started at 120 M.P.H. & ended at the same frantic pace. The level of intensity that was maintained throughout the first set was magical. Greg's voice was strong and playing, perfect. Warren sang the old classic "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl"which was great. Derek's solo in "Schoolgirl" and "Dreams" (in the second set) were searing. Warren played with such intensity it was amazing he didn't break all six strings!!! It took the opening of the second set to extinguish the flames with some acoustic tunes. Ending the second set with a blazing version of "Liz Reed", which rolled into the encore, a savage version of "Whipping Post" with Butch, Jaimoe and Marc burning with master solos. Oteil's playing tonight was just so on. If the Allmans can sustain this level of play for the next ten Beacon shows, they'll have to cart them off in straight jackets next Sunday. What a superb show. The best band on Planet Earth went beyond even their level of greatness on Saturday night. THANK YOU ALLMAN BROTHERS!!!!! All is well... Anthony A., you're the BEST!!!
