Jim B. and I headed for home at the break...9:30 was packed, snowstorm was imminent, plus I'd seem them New Year's Eve...seemed like a good idea.
Karl Denson was very exciting! Although on one tune his flute didn't seem to fit in and wasn't even audible. Generally though he's killer on sax and flute, a very muscular player in both senses of the word.
First set, Fool's Moon, Rocking Horse, Beautifully Broken/When Doves Cry, among others. Probably missed some great jamming in the second set (others who were there can confirm). I really enjoyed the instrumental from the end of I Want You (She's So Heavy), with Karl D. playing fast and dirty on the sax.
Security busted two guys standing right in front of Jim and me...probably because they were lighting up so blatantly (not that there's anything wrong with that, of course).
PS: How was your show, Marley?
