The challenging dynamic is that the Allman Brother's music is our hobby. For them it started as a hobby but now it's also their job and business. Everyone likes a starving artist but once they achieve financial success, we accuse them of being sell-outs. It's not entirely fair to the artists. I can lob eggs at Gregg for his book signing debacle and Butch for his Moogis failures and to Jim Dolan for his involvement in anything at all. But I cannot come down on a musician for charging a lot of money for tickets. Attendance says they can get it and they would be idiots not to capitalize. And I don't believe that anyone reading this would do it differently. Back in the day, when they were still struggling to make it, it was much easier to say that it was all about the music. It was true because they hadn't made it yet. They were surely hoping to do so. Since then, they made it. Early adopters can remember when. In the meantime, they are making a lot of money and arguably deserve it. We're allowed to fret that we can't afford the enjoyment like we used to. But I can't honestly begrudge them wealth if they can find it.
