Hi gang, I wanted to tell the Sirius-XM listeners among you that one of my brother Tyler's friends will be participating in a broadcast between 7 and 8 Tuesday night. It's on the Jam ON station and the show is called Roll Your Own. Sam won a contest and got to guest DJ a couple of songs. Her choices included a live version of Soulshine and The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down from The Last Waltz. She explains her first pick this way: "I'm gonna start things off with one of my favorite songs, "Soulshine" by The Allman Brothers. I'd like to dedicate my show to a very good friend of mine, Tyler, who passed away in October 2010 from a rare form of brain cancer, chordoma. This song meant a lot to him and ironically the first time I turned on Jam_ON, Soulshine was on. I had the pleasure of seeing a few shows from the Beacon run in 2009 with Tyler and I'll never forget Soulshine on the March 24th set. The Allman Brothers, Warren, Gov't Mule, and all of the songs on my show today commemorate him; he's had a huge impact on me musically and I'll forever be grateful for that."
