 Mitzi..love and prayers for your little pretty girl....may the    watch over all of you. xoxox
Big Dave..thank God!
Deb, it looks like the storm has taken a swing toward the panhandle..Prayers for anyone in the path of the storm..
We simply do not have the technology to predict with precise accuracy the path or even the intensity, so we all need to be prepared to evacuate should the call be made.
if not for Judi, we were riding out Charley (BIG mistake!)
Ill never forget turning that last corner home, after driving by total destruction..
The little :cowboy: town of Arcadia ( up river) was torn up bad..ancient Florida Live Oaks lying flat on the ground, huge roots ripped from the gorund leaving crater-like holes..
Wild-eyed horses terrified running into eachother head on and /or huge tree trunks that had somehow managed to be spared, falling over themselves legs flailing in the air..a sight I pray I never see again.
The evacuation center that we had passed moments earlier, flat out gone.
The country folks do survive, not a single human life was lost there.
Punta Gorda was another story.
When we turned that last corner, and saw our house in the Mangroves where Charley plummeted thru , (our Mangrove Forest is still flattened out for the most part ) the house still standing in beam of a golden ray of FLA sunshine...we were blessed to be spared.
Neighbors were being airlifted out (heart atracks plus more serious injuires..).
Closer to town, in an upper story of a Harbor-side condo, a man refused to leave his antiques, was impaled to death into the drywall by a shard of window glass.
a Father & Son in East Punta Gorda, did everything together, including going to meet their maker, the fumes of their generator got to them.
An elderly couple was crushed to death under the weight of their tiny home's roof, their handicapped son hurricane force wind lifted thru the gaping hole, crashed landed thru a neighboring roof to land on a pile of dirty laundry and survive.
So bad...sewage and the freakin chemicals that fools are addicted to, vital to their worthless crops of lawns , mixed with dead wildlife , boiling in a potent brew of poison. oy
We really need to clean up our acts , go back to the old ways , before the big chemical industry ruled to roost.imho
Nic-y, did you drive right through Cadillac where Heather was born ?
Petrosky is even further North than where we lived, and we lived North. Pet bears on chains in backyards making me sad.
Deb, if you want to hurricane party with the McFamily Saturday...
Got good tunes :)Try to get here.
We'll feel like we 're on vacation :reddancer:
