Sounds like fun if you're in the area... Headline: SKYDOGS TO PLAY ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND TRIBUTE CONCERT AT 'FREE FRIDAYS' ON MAY 13 GAINESVILLE, Fla., May 2 -- The city of Gainesville issued the following news release: The SkyDogs are a group of musicians that borrowed the late guitarist Duane Allman's moniker for their name. They will play a tribute concert to The Allman Brothers Band at the "Free Fridays" concert series on Friday, May 13. Last September, the SkyDogs debuted their band at a Free Fridays concert by recreating The Allman Brothers Band's 1971 double live album, "At Fillmore East." This proved to be one of the best attended and most talked about concerts of the season. According to the Skydog's lead guitarist Mick Marino, "This year's show will have songs from many different records, including the first album, 'Idlewild South,' 'Eat a Peach,' and a later record from the '90s. Plus we have worked up a very special encore for our audience." Joining Mick Marino (lead guitar / vocals) will be Larry Thompson (drums / percussion), Tony McMahon (slide guitar / lead guitar / vocals), Henry Raimato (Hammond B3 organ / piano / vocals, Frank Varosi (bass) and Gus Olmos (harmonica). The Let's Go Downtown "Free Fridays" Concert Series runs from 8 to 10 p.m. on Friday nights from Friday, May 6 through Friday, October 14. The Bo Diddley Community Plaza is located on the corner of Southeast First Street and East University Avenue.
