Cowboy rode hard into Daytona Beach Saturday night! Many thanks to all the people that made the Cowboy reunion at the Full Moon Saloon (Old Martinique) such a wonderful night for music. Our hats are off to Danny Randolph, his wife, and family for working so hard to bring this kind of music to Daytona Beach. And for the people that drove in from all over the state of Florida, and from as far away as Georgia, well, you know who you are and the love you showed Cowboy was truly fantastic. Musicians like the ones that we were privileged to hear last night can feel when the crowd is into the music, and last night the excitement spread from the audience to the stage, and back again. It was hard to tell who was having more fun, the musicians, or the audience...with an ever-so-slight advantage to the musicians. Floyd Miles and Friends absolutely tore-it-up, and had the audience on the edge of their seats when Cowboy took the stage. Miles' band includes local standout musicians Reuben Morgan, Steve Hutter, Arnold Ramsey, and Eddie Fields. Miles is a local Soul and R&B icon, with a rare richness, and tone to his voice, and nobody's better at stirring-up a crowd than Floyd. Cowboy, Tommy Talton, Scott Boyer, Randall Bramblett, Stan Robertson, and Bill Stewart with special guest Walter Andrews on pedal Steel, and original drummer, Tom Wynn on percussion took off like a Lear Jet and never let up on the gas untill it was time to go home. They rolled out hit after hit, and surprise after surprise until everyone was physically and mentally whipped into a frenzy. It became abundantly obvious, early on, that Talton and Bramblett were intent on challenging each other to higher notes, more soulful runs, and more fluid runs, all evening. The dynamics between seasoned, career musicians like these is truly a delight to watch, and a real privilege to hear. Like dandelion seeds on a summer breeze, the vocal harmonies from Boyer and Talton floated between the rafters of the Full Moon, and settled over the anxious crowd. Nights like this don't come along often...if you were there you know what I'm talking about...if you missed it, well, all I can say is don't miss the next one. You owe it to yourself to hear this caliber of music when it comes to town.
