Looking at a framed concert stub from November 30, 1973. My first concert....The Allman Brothers Band....Carolina Coliseum (the 4th version of the band). Charlie Daniels opener. Ticket cost $4.50. Me and my cousin, 16 years old. Never seen anything with these many people. Heard a song during the intermission for the first time. Cried like a baby. My cousin had went to the concession stand to buy a few hot dogs, came back and noticed my eyes were wet. He asked me what was wrong. I asked him what was the name of the song that just played and told me "Layla" and that Duane played slide guitar on it.... I was hooked before then, however this concert cemented that..;) People were passing joints back and forth, however Norman and I declined. We were scared to death they were going to put everyone there in jail... Think I'll crank Layla up before I take a nap...:) God Bless this Band !!
