Lee you post is excellent. It really says it all. More so when they are gone. Memories of MOM never fade, they get stronger in time.
This for those who seem to be able to get hold of pictures from the days back in the years. The first album has a picture taken on Otis Reddings farm out side of Macon of the band naked in a stream. All are sitting down except Butch who is standing behind the Oak, so nothing was showing. There is a picture of the band standing up and letting it all hang out. Those who visited the Fillmore East, might remember a life size picture of this that was pasted to the wall in front of the concession counter on the second floor. When you bought your goodies and turned around to leave the counter, that life size picture was starring you in the face. Question is, does anyone have a copy of this picture?
The reason Butch is standing is because he had cut his leg at the top of the knee. This happened when I was making a arm band, one with the peace and love sign on it, from a piece of leather. I was cutting the strip out when Butch came into the bedroom where I was working. This is the only bedroom in the apartment at 309 collage street. It was about 10' by 8'. Not what you would call a big room, Bathroom was at the back of this room. So when Butch came in, he right away said let me show you how to do this. Butch is good with his hands. Well he might be good but not that day. The brother put a nice gash in his leg. So when the picture was taken he could not sit down in the water.
That's my story and I am sticking to it.
