Very nice set by Lefty at Moes! Good barbecue and great music in one location! What a country, this Alabania! Just few notes - Lefty played to a full deck (perhaps not WITH full deck 😉 ) - Moe's stage is an outdoor set up - a patio with a couple dozen tables. The place was full! Usually the acoustic opener is the guy who plays while people are slowly filing in for dinner. Lefty made some new friends early! Most of the "happy hour crowd" stayed on thru his set. If anything, the "headliners" (a local "Americana-post-punk-folk" band called the Cosmic Snake Handlers ) lost some folks as they started up. Lefty graciously shared the stage with my good friend (and Birmingham legend), B.A. Bodiford (the Heaters, B.A. & the Buicks, the Mighty Crazy Band ...). Lefty and B.A. worked together on several tunes, all to the crowd's delight and joy. Great to see Lefty and Leeann as well as B.A. and everybody else. My boss, Rick even tore himself away from work for a couple of hours to come out and hear Lefty! Thanks to Moes! Moes is just a real fun place to hang out! Laid back atmosphere and GREAT food (how bout them collards, Lefty?)! They have certainly become a great sponsor of great music here i Birmingham! Lefty will be back with his band (Jimmy and Jon) in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, Brent will be playing in the Friday opener slot next Friday. Wish I could make that one, but business calls. 🙁
