Happy Birthday to J.P. and Kris. And a second to Hophead's recommendation on Genetic Drift. If you like funky, creative jazz, a la the Derek Trucks Band, these guys are spot on. Highly Kind will be at Matilda's next Fri., Apr. 2. And a very happy birthday to the Allman Brothers Band. When I think back to 1969, the garage bands inspired by the Brittish Invasion, all the bands from towns small and large around the country, all trying to make it to the big time, the big record deal.... For Duane Allman, at such a young age, to walk away from the deal everybody was aspiring to, to move back from L.A. to the hills of rural Alabama, hang out at Fame, be his own man, take the road less travelled......and the incredible difference the road he took made to so many lives, to this very day... Happy Birthday to his gift to us. With deepest gratitude.
