Thought I'd throw out a .02 on the longshot chance that somebody involved with the setlist might read this.... Widespread has a big following in the general Birmingham market. So do Warren and Derek. Now, not being totally familiar with WP's music, I do believe they do quite a bit of improv jamming. Why else hire Herring? I read recently where Butch said in an interview that they can't get as far out when touring as they can at the Beacon. Due to the non-hardcore audience and their desire for familiar tunes. But maybe, in B'ham, y'all could get a bit further out? Some ideas: Rocking Horse. And perhaps Jimmy sitting in for Les Brers and perhaps a spacy Jessica? And if there is to be a special guest or two, maybe not Taylor Hicks this time? He's a good guy, but time is short. Perhaps some others with Alabama roots, that are close to the band? Scott Boyer? Jimmy Hall? Johnny Sandlin? Chuck Leavell? Oh, and one other thing...y'all will be in Otiel's hometown for a couple days. Lots of cool stuff going on at the Rogue Bar and the Metro Bistro. Within walking distance of the venue and the hotel. Come have some fun with us when you're done! Thanks for listening...back to your regular program. 🙂
