i just found this site. duane was one of my main inspirations as a kid learning to play. i still think, as i did then, 35+ years ago, he was one of a kind. a lot of guys play great guitar but d played great MUSIC. the emotion and intensity is so palpable. i recently got the cd of the complete live at fillmore (went thru 2 vinyl copies and a tape) WOW, still. i think his solo on liz reed is about the best rock guitar solo ever. berry plays like he's d's 3rd hand (all the time, but especially here). it is still an epiphany to hear it. it just takes my breath away, the way the band played together, so sympathetic and responsive. no rock band played like that before or since. he humbled clapton - who was lucky to have him - says a lot about clapton, that he'd have duane in his band. i would love to see video of him. along with clarence white, roy buchanan and danny gatton, some of the greatest unsung losses in american music. thanks for this site.
