I figured it would be nice to paste in these thought from brother Steve about last night's dTb show...thanks Steve!: Well I made it to my 1st Derek Trucks Band show last night. Saw him with the Allman's in August in Columbia MD and peaked my intrest. Let me start by saying that the State Theatre is a very nice venue. Holds maybe 500-550 people. The balcony is at the rear going straight accross. The floor is 4 levels, upper back with taping, sound boards and small dancing area. Middle center dips a little lower and has cocktail tables and chairs. Center left is just a tad higher with cocktail tables and chairs. Center right is a bar with standing. And the front is lower, approx 120 ft wide by 70 feet deep for dancing your legs off. All the floors are wood like a basketball court with the walls being art-deco. Well now that I have you in the venue and ready to go. The feeling of the evening at the start was a blue-zy Thang going into a jazz fusion orgasam. Lots of dancing. Todd kept us in time and bent it a few times. Kofi....well all I can say is the man is talented to say the least! Yonrico was left rear stage. Watching this guy play is absorbing. The faces, the emotion. Once you start watching it takes you away and a 1/3 of the song is gone "THEN" Derek's guitar comes in. THIS is why I just bought a 900.00 dollar subwoofer for my system. Even tho the man plays lead guitar and not the bass. You FEEL the notes that he plays, in your chest like a bass would feel. And the sound, well it's hard to describe but it just feels right to the body. It's not like an Angel. Natalie Merchant's voice is like an angel. More like the Devils son that it turns out is working for the other "good" guy. The finger fret work and notes were clear and crisp while the slide was impeckable. All in all a very enjoyable evening. And for $20.00 bucks....Think the guys can come by every friday or saturday night. I'll throw in a $20.00 every time. ;~) Like I said this was my 1st time....so I'm not a virgin anymore....hope it was as good for the band, LOL! I'll be ready and willin' Saturday night to do it again. That's why my name is Ticketplease. Because these shows are like one big carnaval ride and I just want a ticket please so I can take that ride again and again and again and well you get the picture. Jim took the ball on that Dave Matthew Band CD. Got to meet him, Jenn his wife and cleaneduphippy...uh,Fred. All really nice folks. Jim and Jenn found friends at the show but I was able to get in some great conversation with Fred and hope to talk more with Jim at Recher on Nov. 9th. Hopefully this gives the reader a little insight into the happenings of the evening. I promise as time goes on and I learn the names of the songs I'll give more indepth reports. Until then I'm just lookin' for another "Ticketplease" to make it thru the night!
